This week in Caterpillars Class we…
- This week the children have been working very hard on their scissor control. We have been looking at the lead up to Lunar New Year and the children have made paperchains. We talked about what it was and how different animals represent different things. The children really enjoyed learning about a new celebration and making crafts related to it.
- This week we have been doing a lot of small group games. The children really enjoyed ‘What’s in the bag’ They learnt different vocabulary on how to describe how the different items smelt & we spoke about our senses and how they are so important to us.
- This week we have been cooking. The children each helped to make bread rolls in the shape of the animals from our book of the week. The children worked on their gross motor skills through rolling the dough out and stretching it. They all talked about what they thought was going to happen to the bread when it went in the oven.
- The children did a cutting activity and made their own person. They used their imagination to think about what the person looked like. They then drew out each of the features of that person and worked on the scissor control by cutting strips for their hair.
