This week in Caterpillars Class we…
- On Tuesday it was St. Patrick’s Day. The children loved exploring a new celebration that a few had not heard of before. We explained to the children why we wear green and what the leprechauns would do to anyone not wearing green! We created our own Shamrocks using lots of different materials and the children used their motor skills to cut and tear the tissue paper.
- In celebration of Down Syndrome Day, the children wore odd socks on Friday and created their own silly sock designs. The children used different coloured paint pens to make their designs.
We have been looking at the kinds of bugs and insects that we may find out in the garden. The children did a bug hunt around the classroom searching for different bugs. They then talked about the different qualities of insects and why we need them. The children worked in small groups and enjoyed searching for different insects. - For our cooking activity this week the children made bread rolls. They took turns mixing the ingredients and split them into even amounts. They kneaded the dough and then created the shapes that they wanted their bread to be in. This activity worked on the children’s concentration, communication & language and turn taking skills.
