This week in Caterpillars Class we…
- This week the children have loved exploring Lunar New Year. They have been very excited to learn more about different celebrations around the world. We tried new foods such as Spring rolls and Prawn crackers. We have been making our own lantern and dragon decorations and talking about what the importance of the day is to people all around the world.
- We have been looking at Valentine’s Day and what it means. Each of the children made cards for people who they think are really special to them. Each child talked about why they thought that the person was special to them. It was lovely to hear about all of the people that the children care so much about.
- This week we have been baking. The children each made their own biscuits and decorated them how they liked. The children used their gross motor skills to roll out the dough and to make the shapes using the cutters but also having to be quite delicate when laying their icing on the top.
- For pancake day the children each got to decorate their own pancake. The children loved picking out their own fruit and using the different utensils. Each child used a spoon to scoop the honey and the fruit and place them on the pancakes. Of course eating them for snack was very exciting too!
