This week in Caterpillars Class we…
- This week we have been looking forward to the lead up to World Book Day. We have been looking at ‘The Very Hungry Caterpillar.’ The children created their own caterpillars by picking colours and painting them onto the egg boxes. We spoke about how Spring is on it’s way and we will soon be seeing lots of different animals around. We have also been looking at how caterpillars turn into butterflies and the process they go through.
- The start of this week we enjoyed the short burst of very nice weather. The Caterpillars class had the chance to get outside and plant some flowers. Each child picked a flower that they wanted to plant. They took turns to dig the soil and plant them. We made sure to water them afterwards so that they can grow as much as they can. We will continue to look after the flowers and watch how they grow.
- The caterpillars have really enjoyed doing some fun group games this week. This one was a different version of ‘red light, green light’ The children had to listen carefully, each word corresponded to a different action. Red was stop, orange was put it on your head and green was play the instrument.
- The children have been working on some observational drawing. The children took turns drawing these beautiful flowers. We talked about the different parts of flowers and what they are called and looked the different colours. It was nice to see each childs interpretation of the flowers and how they drew them on the page.
