Caterpillars Nursery Newsletter – 15/5/2026

This week in Caterpillars Class we…

  • The children made their own treasure maps. They used tea bags to make them look like they had been there for a long time. They then went out in the garden and followed the clues on the map to find the buried treasure in the sand.
  • The Caterpillars class have really been enjoying some different fruit activities. This week they made their own orange/lemon juice. They took turns to cut the oranges /lemons and then squeezed all the juice out.
They also made their own fruit kebabs from a variety of different fruits.
  • We have been working on the children’s writing and being able to identify different letters. They used the rice to draw different letters and talk about what sounds they made.
  • The children have been cutting up different herbs for them to use in their restaurant. We have been learning the names and exploring their different smells. This activity has also helped work on scissor skills and the muscles in their hands.
  • The children have really enjoyed the restaurant role play area. They loved being able to explore real foods and serving each other as if they were in a restaurant.
