Caterpillars Nursery Newsletter – 24/4/2026

This week in Caterpillars Class we…

  • This week in the Caterpillars we have been looking at different dinosaurs. The children loved exploring the different dinosaur environment tuff tray. It had lots of different textures for them to explore and we spoke about what types of dinosaurs may have lived in the different environments.
  • We have been working on the children’s letter recognition, specifically matching the lower case to the upper case. We used different dinosaur eggs with different letters on them for the children to match up. We then practised saying how the letter sounded phonetically and writing them in the sand.
  • In the tuff tray the children explored a dinosaur digging tray. They used lots of different tools to break the small dinosaurs free from the ice and then explored the different characteristics they had.
  • The children made their own fossils using clay. They used the muscles in their hands to roll out the clay into the shape that they wanted and then picked out the different objects to use to print. They pushed them into the clay and had a look to see what patterns they made.
  • On Thursday it was St. George’s Day. The children did lots of different activities to celebrate and learn about the day. We spoke to the children about St. George and how he fought a dragon and the children then went on to make their own dragons cutting out the different features they wanted them to have.
